feedback on the "newpaper" blog
Hello everyone!
I was pleased at the choice of articles for your blog and your summary. You did a good job selecting important information and communicating it. That is not an easy task.
One thing to be VERY CAREFUL about is taking too much language from the article. Most of you took phrases or even whole sentences from the original, and as you learned in your summary with Lili, a summary in English is supposed to be in your own words. We will work more on paraphrasing in class so that you feel comfortable using your own language.
Some of you had great comments for your classmates, some wrote just a few words, and some wrote not at all. Let's brainstorm the kinds of comments you can make.
All in all, your blogs are off to a great start. Keep communicating with each other.

the weekend
Hello everyone-
Another grey day. Sigh! Fortunately, you have your novel to keep you occupied. Please complete your reading this weekend and be ready to discuss it Monday.
Second, finish the blogs with your summary and reaction to a news story. Almost all of you had started writing Friday, so you need only to complete the two-paragraph summary and then your reaction/opinion of the story. Then read and react to two other blogs by classmates. Try to vary the people you reply to, reading the blogs of different classmates each time.
The weather is unfortunately looking miserable for several more days so it's a good time to get work done. Try movies as well!

Welcome
Welcome everyone!
Start using your blog for both informal, personal writing to classmates, and for certain assignments. Try introducing yourself first, talking a little about your life story and your hobbies, etc.
Then, by Sunday morning, please search the web for information on super skyscrapers, choose one, describe it (add a picture if you can) and then give your opinion on whether or not you thing building super skyscrapers is a good idea. Support your opinion giving reasons.
Starting Sunday at noon, check the blogs of your classmates and post comments on at least two other blogs.
Print out your skyscraper blog for Tuesday. You can print here in the computer lab if you wish.
The book: read the section your group agreed on. make 7 - 10 questions on parts you didn't understand, on trying to figure out the characters, the direction of the story, etc.
